NASA Tests 3D Printed Rocket Engine

NASA recognizes that on Earth and potentially in space, additive manufacturing can be game-changing for new mission opportunities, significantly reducing production time and cost by ‘printing’ tools, engine parts or even entire spacecraft. 3-D manufacturing offers opportunities to optimize the fit, form and delivery systems of materials that will enable our space missions while directly benefiting American businesses here on Earth.

Associate Administrator for Space Technology, NASA

ISRO successfully tests 3d printed rocket engine

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Thursday (May 9) successfully tested a liquid rocket engine made with the help of additive manufacturing technology — commonly known as 3D printing.

The engine, PS4, which is used as the engine for the fourth stage of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), was redesigned by ISRO for production using 3D printing.
